Some 2L students were just asking me how I can go work for a big law firm that defends huge corporations.
I told them...it's simple. Plaintiff's attorneys exaggerate demands and the good defense attorney gets to the plaintiff's bottom line and then convinces his client to settle for that. I'm not trying to deprive your poor plaintiffs of what they are due but I'm not going to indulge frivolous claims or pay them 50x their actual damages.
They were like...yeah, okay. That makes sense.
